About Equal VoiceEqual Voice is a national, bilingual, non-profit, multi-partisan organization dedicated to electing more women to all levels of political office in Canada.Equal Voice regards the under-representation of women in Canada's Parliament, in our provincial/territorial legislatures, and on municipal and band councils, as a fundamental deficit in Canada’s democratic institutions.Founded in 2001, Equal Voice has chapters in British Columbia, Alberta (south and north), Ontario (Toronto and Ottawa), Saskatchewan, three of the four Atlantic provinces (Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, and New Brunswick), as well as a dynamic national youth chapter. You are invited to join Equal Voice Alberta North and, our sponsor, the Alberta Real Estate Association as we host a fundraising event for women candidates in the upcoming municipal election.  
Fundraising has been identified as one of the biggest barriers for women interested in running for political office.  We know you care about gender parity as much as we do so it's time we put our money where our wine and cheese goes! 
On June 22, we're bringing candidates and donors together for an evening of socializing and (hopefully!) fundraising.  This will give members an opportunity to learn more about the candidates and connect with their campaign teams to offer support. Minister of Service Alberta and Status of Women, Stephanie McLean will bring grettings and attend the event to lend her support. 
There will be appetizers and a cash bar.
This event is free; however, we ask that you please RSVP by registering for an 'Attendee' ticket below.

FAQs  for Attendees 
 1. How will any money raised be distributed amongst the candidates? 
Candidates will connect with individuals directly to raise money for their own campaigns and collect constributions directly 
2. Can people choose to donate to one specific candidate, or is it a general pot to be split? 
People can choose to donate to one specific candidate, or many! 
3. If it is a pot to be split, who makes that allotment decision? 
EVAN will not be collecting any money directly, so there will be no pot to split and no decisions to be made. 
4. Given that there are no tax receipts for municipal donations, can people recieve general receipts (ie from EVAN or from the candidates campaign) for any cash/cheques they may donate, as proof of participation in the event? 
People can receive receipts directly from the candidates they choose to support 
5. Can money transfers be accomodated? 
If a candidate can accomodate a money transfer, then yes! 
6. What if I can't attend the event, but would like to contribute to a candidate?

FAQs for Candidates
1. How should I collect donations? 
On the spot, via cash, cheque, or electronic money transfer. 
2. What about receipts? 
We recommend you come prepared to provide receipts to donors. 
3. What if I can't attend the event? 
We would be happy to welcome a volunteer from your campaign to represent you. We also have your name and campaign website listed on <A HREF="http://www.yegparity.ca" TARGET="_blank" TITLE="www.yegparity.ca" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">www.yegparity.ca</A>. Be sure to include instructions on your website on how donors can make contributions to your campaign, and how volunteers can get in touch to get involved with your campaign.
