Spaces are limited.***Get ready to move, groove, and connect.We are welcoming two incredible visiting instructors to the Yukon to teach a Fusion dance workshop. Whether you’re a total beginner or an experienced dancer, this weekend is your chance to dive into the joy of dance, develop or refine your skills, explore the fusion dance form and meet a fantastic community of fellow movers.Fusion is more than a style of partner dance; it is a way of moving, a philosophy of collaboration and choice. Fusion teaches technique that spans across partner dance styles. You can apply these skills to any social dance, as well as adapt to each partner and song. Fusion invites dancers to play, be creative, and be open to what the dancefloor brings. Rather than being tied to a specific music, rhythm, or look; we choose! How do we want to dance this song, with this partner? How do we make this feel great!? And this means Fusion adapts to all kinds of music, and all kinds of dancers no matter their background. Each song is a journey of discovery!What to Expect: Workshops for all levels – From foundational techniques to advanced tips, there's something for everyone. Flexible lead and follow format. Class topics will include:<ul><li>Turns</li><li>Tension/tone</li><li>Musicality/rhythm</li><li>Partner connection</li></ul>Specific class topics are subject to change based on participant and instructor needs Saturday + Sunday ScheduleWe are working with the instructors to finalize the schedule. Final schedule will be posted mid-March. Here's an idea of the daily flow for Saturday/Sunday: 11:00 - 12:30BREAK2:00 – 3:153:40 – 5:00 Saturday Social Dance Party – An evening of dancing, laughter, and connection featuring dj’ed music with Ash and DJ Charles Hegsted. Your Instructors: K.Lani (Vancouver) – K.Lani has always been fascinated by movement. She’s been dancing for over 20 years, and dabbling in everything from ballet and street jazz, to circus, and various partner dances. She swung into Lindy Hop in 2003, before sinking into the Blues in 2008. In 2010, she discovered Fusion at the San Diego Fusion Exchange, and with her extensive movement background, took to it like a fish to water. Fusion continues to inspire her dance, organization, and teaching. She has taught around BC, the USA, and in Europe. She also founded a local Fusion dance; Coalescence in 2013, and MiniVan: A Vancouver Micro Odyssey in 2017 to further her love of micro. As a teacher K.Lani strives to inspire her students and give them the confidence to play, discover, and connect through movement. Dance Your Art! Ash (SanFranciso) – Ash's movement and leadership background extends back to his early childhood when he was in the competitive martial arts scene by age three. In his preteens, he found his love of emotional expression through poetry and music, and in 2009, he found the means to connect them through dance. In 2013, Ash found East Coast Swing and realized partner dance was his greatest passion. He tried a few dance styles but, fascinated by the "language" of conversational dance, he ultimately committed most of his time to studying Fusion. Ash has worn many hats in the Fusion community, from DJ, to Instructor, to Venue Organizer, but above all else, he values the dance itself and the growth and support of the community as a whole. What to Bring: Comfortable clothes, dance shoes (or smooth-soled shoes), water bottle, and your dancing spirit.Questions?
