Get Rusty: A Brief Introduction to the Rust Programming Language
This workshop will be a short introduction to Rust.
Rust is a modern, low-level language that is super fast, like Sonic the Hedgehog, but also has incredible safety guarantees: type safety (eh), thread safety (ay), and segfault prevention (ayyyy!).
What we'll cover:
Cargo: Rust's package manager
Neat-o Rust features that make high-level languages envious
Some practical examples of the compiler catching a thread-safety issue
Where is the Event?
This event will be held in the International Building at TRU, in room IB 1010.
What should I bring?
A text editor you like (Notepad++, Sublime Text, anything really)
Rust installed -- follow the instructions at https://rustup.rs (make sure cargo is added to the PATH)
