Want to find Montréal parks with pools to get ready for summer? Or, maybe you’re a community organizer who wants some government documents that aren’t quickly available? Lost in navigating federal or provincial data, or struggling to come up with a question for your curiosity? Government data belongs to all of us—come learn how to get and use it!For this hands-on workshop with Rine Vieth, attendees are welcome to bring specific data questions or topics…or just come along to learn about public data and how you can get it! Come along and what open data repositories are available, how to file Access to Information requests, and more—all with examples from Rine’s experience. Attendees will get a PDF copy of a zine to take with them to support them on their future data adventures. No research experience needed—just bring your curiosity, and a laptop or other device if you want to follow along on a digital device (not required!). Your facilitator is Rine Vieth (they/iel), a researcher, educator, and passionate advocate for more accessible information. They have been known to spend their spare time making maps with open data, filing information requests, and supporting small organizations with research. They are a firm believer that government data belongs to all of us.
