A Question of Care (QoC) is a Peterborough-based capacity-building initiative focused on building and strengthening skills, knowledge, and awareness to address the intersections between substance use, stigma, mental illness, and trauma. Course Description:
An in-depth look at harm reduction as a foundational model for health and social services. This interactive multimedia course will invite participants to engage in several core principles that comprise harm reduction as related to substance use. Through large and small group discussion and various group and individual exercises, participants will cultivate a more concrete understanding of harm reduction and work to develop an assortment of tools and strategies to better implement harm reduction practically in their professional and personal lives.
Facilitator Biography:
Chris Jardin | PARN Chris Jardin is the Support and Interventions Coordinator at PARN - Your Community AIDS Resource Network. Chris has trained thousands of service providers and individuals across the region on harm reduction and the opioid crisis. He is a strong advocate for bringing broader awareness to the stigmatizing attitudes and systems that create significant barriers for individuals engaged in substance use when attempting to access health and social services.

Who should attend this training?
QoC training sessions are designed for helping professionals in Peterborough City and County. We define "helping professional" as anyone in a position of interacting with people in providing a service.
Will food be provided?
Coffee, tea, are light snacks are included. Lunch will not be provided. There are several restaurants within walking distance of the Lions Centre. Please feel free to contact the Project Lead for recommendations.
Is there parking?
There is free parking at the Lions Centre, but come early as spaces can fill up fast! Street parking is also available.

The cost of this training has been subsidized through a partnership with the Peterborough Drug Strategy and its members. Tickets are sold on a cost-recovery basis. Bursaries are available upon request.
