What do I wear or bring to the event?

Please wear clothing suitable for the weather as we will be working on the hides outside. Hide tanning can get messy therefore please wear clothing that can get dirty. Please pack a water bottle or lawn chair for breaks.

Of course! Everyday we will provide lunch and light refreshments like water, tea and snacks to keep you energized throughout the day. It is important that you register so we can get an exact head count to feed everyone in attendance.

Is this only for community members?

NO. We invite anyone who would like to learn the art of tanning hides to come but please refrain from publicly sharing the step by step process of tanning hides.

Join us in person for an engaging, hands-on Hide Tanning Workshop! Whether you’re brand new or simply curious to learn more, instructors Cory and Katelyn Wadsworth will guide you through the fundamentals of tanning hides in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Experience traditional teachings and explore the history and cultural significance of hide tanning from a Blackfoot perspective. This workshop also connects to our upcoming spring session, where we’ll use the hide you’ve tanned to create beautiful iniskim pouches.
