Hot Cross Buns Bread Workshop

Schneider Haus National Historic Site is a dynamic, community museum located in the heart of downtown Kitchener. A local landmark and one of Kitchener's oldest dwellings, the 1816 homestead was restored and furnished, then opened as a living history museum in 1981. The heart of the complex is a fine Georgian-frame farmhouse that was built by and was home to the area's earliest non-Aboriginal settlers, Joseph and wife Barbara Schneider, Pennsylvania-German Mennonites.

Learn to make buns so delicious they made a nursery rhyme about them!

Buns so delicious they made a nursery rhyme about them! Join us at Schneider Haus to make this traditional Spring treat loaded with spices and raisins. We will be using a recipe from Baking Yesteryear by B. Dylan Hollis.As your dough rises, you’ll take a coffee break, enjoy samples of hot cross buns fresh from our historic bake oven and a tour of the Historic Haus and Outbuildings.This is a make and take course where you will learn how to make your dough and take it home ready to bake in your own oven!This workshop is for ages 16 and up.
