Event description

Description

This 2.5-hour program is designed to nurture and expand your innate creative voice. Working with John, you will learn traditional and contemporary techniques to develop an intuitive, non-judgmental creative space that connects to what William Blake calls the “eternal imagination”.

Practices will focus on encouraging a playful, inviting spirit through a combination of adventure, risk, and contemplation.

Participants will learn to:

  • Apply unstructured, focused “play” to creative work
  • Work with chance and associative connections
  • Realize, nurture and protect a “seed” idea
  • Access creative vision through de-stimulation

John Southworth is an English-Canadian singer-songwriter known for an indefinable and singular style. His songs have been written for and/or covered by Canadian artists Sarah Slean, Buck 65, Martin Tielli, Hawksley Workman, Veda Hille, Jully Black and Patricia O'Callaghan. John's alternative children's book, Daydreams for Night, was recently published in Japan (on Asuka books). A former film student, he makes his own videos as well as for others.
