Human Library
Overview
Stop by the library and check-out a human book for a chat!
A Human Library is a way for people to reach out and connect with individuals in their community in a safe environment.
Borrowers, known as Readers, will sign out Human Books for brief periods of time. During short conversations, Human Books will share their diverse and varied life stories, perspectives on life, and their experiences with prejudice and stereotypes with the aim of creating awareness and understanding of others and their choices.
Among others, this event will feature the following human books:
- In Stitches: my past life as a fashion designer by former fashion designer Emily Gordon
- The Courage to Begin Again by immigrant to Canada Khalida Qaderi
- Writing from ten to today: a lifetime of photography by photographer Jim Craigmyle
- In Life a Seagull....In Death & Forever more a Blue Jay by former Blue Jays ball boy Jeff Pinchuk
- Don't See my Limitations, See my Heart by Daniela Pethick who lives with epilepsy
Drop-ins are welcome. Registration on Eventbrite preferred.
