Notebook Platform

hyaline is an interdisciplinary live performance; a new collaboration between artists x/o and gooie.

VIVO Media Arts Centre

Drawing from cycles in nature such as slug mating rituals, isopod molting and mycelial networks, hyaline is an exercise in biomimicry, sonic and material experimentation. hyaline explores processes from nature in relation to community formation, vulnerability, care, and self-actualization, to reflect upon queerness existing beyond the human experience.The work is conceived as part performance art, part live experimental music. Instruments include the performers’ bodies, voice, and a limited set of live sound sources such as laptop, contact mics, mixer, biosonification device, and wireless microphones.

Content Warning: This performance contains heavy strobe lighting, and loud noise. Earplugs will be provided.

<h4>x/o [music/sound, performance, design] </h4>x/o is Veron Xio (they/them); a Vietnamese-Canadian electronic music producer and interdisciplinary artist. They have presented work internationally, including Phoenix Central Park (Sydney), Palais de Tokyo (Paris), Institute of Contemporary Arts (London), La Casa Encendida (Madrid), and House of Electronic Arts (Basel).

<h4>gooie [costume, sculpture, performance]</h4>gooie is an interdisciplinary artist specializing in wearable and sculptural works crafted from latex and nylon hosiery. She has been self- teaching and experimenting with latex fashion since 2020 and currently accepts private commissions. Her work has been featured in Nasty Magazine (2022) and Liminul Magazine (2025).
