Overview

This volunteer managers appreciation lunch is intended for volunteer managers & coordinators as we honour the great, positive work you do!

Volunteerism doesn’t ignite itself — it’s nurtured every day by the people who support, encourage, and care for volunteers behind the scenes.

Inspired by Volunteer Canada’s 2026 theme, Ignite Volunteerism, this year’s Volunteer Managers Appreciation Lunch honours the dedication and care volunteer managers and coordinators bring every day to foster positive change in our communities.

Join fellow volunteer managers from across the Central Okanagan for a warm appreciation gathering inspired by National Volunteer Week 2026. This is an intentional space to pause, reconnect, and re-energize — celebrating the people who keep the spark of community service alive.

Through shared food, conversation, and an energizing guest presentation, we’ll celebrate with warmth and humour the leaders behind volunteerism, reminding them why their work matters.

Guest Speaker: Rob Balsdon, Founder of Train Wreck Comedy

We are delighted to welcome Rob Balsdon as our guest speaker

Based in Kelowna, Rob is the founder of Train Wreck Comedy and is known for his candid humour, effortless charm, and razor-sharp wit. With more than 20 years on stage, Rob has owned and operated Train Wreck Comedy for over 15 years, building it into the Okanagan’s #1 stand-up comedy series. He’s performed alongside legends like Gerry Dee, Brent Butt, and Norm MacDonald, as well as former CBC star Shaun Majumder and America’s Got Talent semi-finalist John Wing.

A sought-after professional speaker and host, Rob has worked with organizations including the Kelowna Falcons, Kelowna BCSPCA, Central Okanagan Hospice Association, Castanet Media, Mamas for Mamas, YLW, and many more—bringing warmth, energy, and professionalism to every event.

His presentation will offer a refreshing and uplifting perspective on the human, meaningful, and sometimes chaotic work of supporting volunteers.
