Born in Dakar, Senegal, ILAM draws from his Fula roots to propose a musical style inspired by Sahel blues and afropop, with accents of reggae, jazz and soul. Last album Néné, best world music album at ADISQ and

GAMIQ. On April 17, 2020, ILAM released a new album on the GSI Musique label entitled NÉNÉ, which means «mother». This second album Néné was named Best Album of the Year in the World Music category at the ADISQ in 2020, and was awarded Best Album of the Year in the World Music category at the GAMIQ Gala the same

Year. Realised by Assane Seck, son of the famous Zale Seck, the album Néné (maman) features exceptional collaborators, including the legendary Baaba Maal and the afropop band Meta and The Cornerstones, originally from Senegal, as well as Yann Perreau and André Vanderbiest (Les Colocs).

ILAM croit que la musique est universelle et qu’elle transcende les langues. Il chante en wolof, en peulh, en français et en anglais. Né à Dakar, au Sénégal, ILAM puise dans ses racines peulh pour proposer un style musical qui s’inspire à la fois du ILAM blues du Sahel et de l’afropop, avec des accents de reggae, de jazz et de soul. Dernier album Néné, meilleur album musique du Monde à l’ADISQ et au GAMIQ. Sous l’étiquette GSI Musique, ILAM fait paraître, le 17 avril 2020, un nouvel album intitulé NÉNÉ, qui signifie « maman ». Ce deuxième album Néné a été nommé Meilleur Album de l’année dans la catégorie Musique du Monde à l&#x27;ADISQ en 2020, et a reçu la distinction Meilleur Album de l’année dans la catégorie Musique du Monde au Gala GAMIQ la même année.
