Improv Level 2

Grindstone Theatre is a non-profit Edmonton based theatre company established in 2011 by Founder and Artistic Director Byron Martin. Grindstone Theatre owns and operates its own venue, The Grindstone Comedy Theatre & Bistro in Old Strathcona. Grindstone Theatre also produces mainstage plays and musicals, provides corporate entertainment, runs public classes, offers school workshops, school performances and free monthly events such as The Open Improv Jam. We believe that theatre can change lives for the better; for those who participate in the performing arts, for our audiences and for our community.

Grindstone Theatre

This class is great for the continued exploration of the world of improv. It will cover how to setup scenes, get suggestions, tell a story, create a character and make strong offers in an improvised scene. Using warm up exercises and short form games, improv level 2 will get you on your feet, making it up on the spot.
Showcase performance will be at the Basement Theatre (10037 84th Ave) on Dec. 15. Performance is encouraged but not mandatory.
Saturdays 1:30 pm  - 3:30 pm  
8 classes + Showcase October 7th to Dec 9th (No Classes on Oct. 28, Nov. 11)
Registration will be closed September 30 *This class is subject to cancellation due to low enrollment numbers.

"Byron is an Edmonton based actor and the Founder and Artistic Director of Grindstone Theatre in Edmonton. He has been working as an improvisor for the past 10 years and is the director of The 11 O'clock Number! The Improvised Musical with which he has toured internationally. Byron is a graduate of the MacEwan Theatre Arts Program and The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland MA Musical Theatre Program. Byron has worked as an actor for The Citadel Theatre, Alberta Opera, Edmonton Actors Theatre, The National Theatre of Scotland, The Citizens Theatre (Glasgow), Trunk Theatre, Theatre YES and many more.  He has been nominated for multiple awards including Outstanding Artistic Director at the Mayors Celebration of the Arts and Best Supporting Actor for the Sterling awards. Byron also works as a Director, Singer, Dancer, Producer, Magician, and has taught theatre and dance for many years"
