Join us for an Indigenous Blanket Exercise where you can learn and connect through tradition and storytelling

An Indigenous Blanket Ceremony is an interactive experience based on Indigenous methodologies with a goal to build understanding about our shared history as Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada by walking through pre-contact, treaty-making, colonization and resistance.

Everyone is actively involved as they step onto blankets that represent the land and into the role of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. As a facilitator guides the group through key moments in Indigenous history, blankets are gradually removed to represent loss of land, culture and lives due to colonization, residential schools and discriminatory government policies.

This exercise aims to foster learning, understanding and reflection on our shared history in reconciliation.

All are welcome to attend this event.
