HOLLY FORTIER, Cree/Dene from Ft. McKay First Nation, Alberta, was born in Treaty 7 Territory and was fortunate to be raised by cultural leaders, academics and activists. She owns a business that specializes in the development and delivery of Indigenous Awareness Training. She has been delivering trainings across Canada since 2007 to thousands and thousands of participants from government, corporate clients, educators, service organizations and first responders. 

Master of Ceremonies

Ann Campiou is a residential school survivor whose life stems from a cultural and Spirtitual lifestyle. She was given the name Rainbow Woman which means one who works with all walks of life.

Welcome and Opening Remarks 

Dancing Cree established in 2013 is a Cree Group based out of the Treaty 6 Territory . They are Educators, Ambassadors, Performers and Cultural Event Coordinators dedicated to promoting artistic performances, and events that bring Cultural Awareness to Cree Traditions Knowledge and History. This Inspiring group brings an authentic innovative approach to showcasing dance, drumming, singing, workshops and coordinating historical events for all types of audiences National and Internationally. 

Opening Entertainment

A panel discussion featuring Certified Indigenous Businesses sharing their successes and recommendations with regards to procurement opportunities within all supply chains of Canada and beyond. In addition, learn how innovation from Indigenous businesses is doing more than just fulfilling a contract requirement.

Lunch 

The Kikino Northern lites is a Metis Traditional dance troupe. Formed in 1978 by Metis elders Georgina Thompson and Doris Bellerose. “Kikinois” is Cree, meaning our home.  “Northern Lites” is an ol’ Metis belief that when the Spirits of our loved ones pass on, they join our Ancestors to rejoice in a spiritual dance in the Northern Sky. 

The dance lead was Gerald White along side his wife Denise White. The group thrilled audiences with their energetic steps and upbeat dancing. With the passing of Gerald in early 2006 the group and its teachings kind of slumbered until last spring.

The groups legacy and teachings are now initiated by Lead dancer Trevor White, Geralds youngest son. Trevor has danced with the group from childhood. Last April they started again to continue to preserve and strengthen the Metis culture through music and dance.

Lunch Entertainment

Cadmus Delorme recognized early on that entrepreneurship could be a powerful tool for economic empowerment. By fostering Indigenous-owned businesses and encouraging entrepreneurial activity, he sought to address longstanding economic disparities. Hear how his ventures aimed not only to achieve business success but also to create lasting impact within Indigenous communities.



Keynote Speaker 

A panel discussion with Supply Change’s Indigenous Procurement Champions on how they implemented strategies and targets to increase Indigenous participation within their supply chains. Learn why including Indigenous businesses within their vendor base has made good business sense and what corporate Canada can do to become an Indigenous Procurement Champion and increase Indigenous procurement opportunities.
