Innovation Hack 2016

Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship (SAGE) Canada is a youth-led non-profit organization striving to advance high school entrepreneurship and community engagement. We nurture an innovative environment by providing educational assistance, resources, and one-on-one mentorship to youth between the ages of 13 to 18. Students are given an opportunity to start their own business ventures, while being taught the importance of emphasizing ethical business practices, social responsibility, civic engagement, and environmental awareness.

SAGE Canada

On December 3, SAGE Canada will be hosting the annual Innovation Hack. The hackathon is designed to break into the minds of youth entrepreneurs and challenge them to generate innovative solutions that target existing social challenges. Through this experiential learning platform, students go experience the process of ideation, prototyping and validating ideas through the fundamental methodologies of entrepreneurship. Working within teams, students create lean business models for their solutions and go through the product design and conceptualization phases. Students pitch their solutions to a panel of judges by the end of the event. The top 3 teams will be awarded $150 each in prize money sponsored by Meridian Credit Union. The purpose of Innovation Hack is to promote out-of-the-box thinking, create unconventional yet effective and efficient paths to solving real world problems.
Judges:
1. Jim Davison, Senior Small Business Cash Management Specialist at Meridian Credit Union 2. Daniel Goncalves, Youth Entrepreneurs, Make Your Pitch Coordinator, Ontario Centre of Excellence 3. James Chalmers, President, Mako Invent
Registration will open at 9:30AM at Ted Rogers School of Managment, 7th floor in front of TRS Commons. Dress code will be business casual.
