The Canadian Mental Health Association, Ottawa Branch, is a community-based, registered charity dedicated to promoting good mental health, developing and implementing support systems and services and encouraging public action to strengthen community mental health services and related policies and legislation.As a recognized leader in our field, we constantly work with a variety of organizations to promote our mandate.CMHA Ottawa offers training programs for professionals, employers, educational institutions and the general public who work with or care for persons living with a mental illness.We are always happy to discuss your training needs and adapt our training programs, scheduling and fees on an individual basis as needed.

CMHA Ottawa: Mental Health Training

<P>An interactive training program for professionals who work with people with co-occurring mental illness and substance use. (3 days)</P>
This three-day integrated training program is designed for professionals who work with people who have co-occurring mental illness and substance use. It is estimated that 40% to 65% of persons with mental illness also have a substance use disorder. This practical workshop will help participants  understand  and appreciate the principles and skills needed to work effectively with people with concurrent disorders.
<P>The goal of the Concurrent Disorders Training Program is to equip staff in the fields of mental health, homelessness and addictions with the knowledge and skills to recognize and respond effectively to issues facing individuals who are homeless and who are trying to deal with both mental health and addiction problems.</P>
