Intersectionality and Gender Justice

LEAF is a national non-profit organization, founded in 1985. The funding LEAF receives directly supports our vital work in ensuring the law guarantees substantive equality for all women, girls, trans, and non-binary people in Canada. LEAF focuses on litigation, law reform, and public education.  In particular, we seek to advance gender equality by challenging laws, policies, and practices that discriminate against equality guarantees enshrined in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, most notably sections 15 and 28.

Join LEAF for a free panel series on topics critical to achieving gender justice!

LEAF is hosting a three-part panel series as part of its Gender Justice Now symposium - and we are making these panels available free online to all who are interested! Join us as we explore topics crucial to understanding the use of law in working towards gender justice. Intersectionality and Gender Justice Our first panel in the Gender Justice Now series will explore the role and use of intersectionality in gender justice advocacy and work. It will feature Grace Ajele (Calgary Legal Guidance), Jena McGill (University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law - Common Law Section), and Sarah Jama (Disability Justice Network of Ontario), with moderator Rosel Kim (LEAF National).This panel will take place on Monday October 26, from 1:15pm to 2:45pm EST.The link to the livestream will be provided the day before the panel. English and French captioning will be provided. The panel discussion will also be recorded and made available for later viewing. LEAF acknowledges the support of Women and Gender Equality Canada for this panel series.
