Yarra Libraries delivers over 2,000 free community programs each year, ranging from early literacy programs (e.g. BabyTime & Storytime), digital literacy sessions, creative technology workshops, thought-provoking public lectures and literary festivals (Kids Book Fest & Fitzroy Writers Festival).Please register an account with Eventbrite to easily manage your own bookings.

Yarra Libraries

Dr Sonika Tyagi will introduce beginners to the programming language Python and help you get started with installing the program; learn about Python's libraries and syntax and where to find introductory guides and coding samples to guide your learning. Python is user friendly, easy to learn, and free to use. Bookings required. For ages 17+. This event will be online via Zoom. A link will be sent to you beforehand.Sonika is a researcher at Monash University and the Alfred Hospital. Sonika is fluent in several programming languages, and has a passion for developing community members’ STEM based skills (Science Technology Engineering Maths). She is involved with organisations such as R for ladies which promotes gender diversity in the community of the R statistical programming language.
