You got this!!! Short Film Producing workshop-&nbsp;Short films can become a filmmaker's calling card. A short film can get you into a film festival where you can discover your audience, network, and even be nominated for awards. But the road to get there can feel overwhelming to navigate. In this workshop with instructor Britney Canzi, we will break down step by step the different stages of producing scripted and unscripted short films. Guiding you through the creation process of a film from the development, pitching, pre-production, production, post-production. and distribution.We will uncover and discuss best practices for collaborating and forming your teams.Business affairs: financing plans, budgets, insurance, talent agreements working with non union and union actors, and releases. Advice for on-set management and schedule workflow. Empowering yourself with more tools in your filmmaking toolkit to successfully produce and create your next dream project. You got this!! Instructor: Britney CanziBritney Canzi is a Latinx producer (CMPA), writer, and actor (ACTRA) based in Kjipuktuk/Halifax, living with invisible disabilities. She also serves as AFCOOP’s BOD treasurer. She is the founder of a small but mighty film, television, and digital creative production boutique that champions underrepresented and emerging voices in both scripted and unscripted content. Britney serves as AFCOOP BOD treasurer.She studied screenwriting at George Brown College. Britney has written and produced both narrative and unscripted award-winning short films.She was a producer and writer for the Telus Take Care incubator/VICE Media docuseries: Living In Flow, a Nova Scotia Screen Awards winner for Best TV Series Unscripted. In 2023, she was a finalist for the CBC/ WIFT-AT Making Waves Short Film Pitch Competition for her short screenplay Tiptoe. Britney is currently writing the second draft of their feature screenplay Finding My Light with development funding support from Telefilm and CCTH. She is currently in pre-production for season one of the BellFibe TV1 drama series 5 episodes X12mins Things Like These, filming in Jan 2026. She has in been a past programmer for Halifax Horror Film festival, and a shorts programme and features programme jury screener for the St.John’s International Women’s Jury. She was recently a juror for the Lunenburg Doc Fest. AFCOOP’S PRICING POLICYAFCOOP recognizes there are systemic inequities which create barriers for people in accessing film training. In an effort to address and recognize historical and present-day inequities we have created a pay-what-you-can style pricing plan for our Workshop series. Please feel free to sign up for whatever price-point you are most comfortable with. No questions asked.$35 - regular rate. This rate covers the cost of paying our instructor as well as the cost of staff time to organize and promote the workshop.$20 - reduced rate. This rate makes a contribution towards our costs.$0 - FREE This rate acknowledges that financial means should not be a barrier to becoming a filmmaker.
