Event description

Description

SFU Omics is proud to offer our second workshop with our guest host: Alex Razoumov!

Introduction to Cedar Supercomputer

Learn how to use the new Compute Canada computing cluster “Cedar” to further your own research! This workshop will help you understand the basic architecture of Cedar’s file systems and software environments. We will cover job submissions via SLURM scheduler, best practices for loading modules and creating user-specific environments, introduce tools to help you estimate the resources required for each job (ex. CPU and memory), predict queue job wait times, and provide options to get additional assistance.

Prerequisites

  • Laptop and powercord
  • Basic knowledge of Linux command line
  • A SSH client for your computer (e.g PuTTY)
  • Compute Canada account and Cedar account
