Meghan Dillon, Naomi Zener and Tony Orsi will walk participants through the process of developing a practical customized IP strategy which can be implemented and updated for achieving business goals through various phases of the business life cycle.

About Tony Orsi

Tony Orsi is a partner with Bereskin & Parr LLP. Tony’s practice focuses on patents with an emphasis on electrical, biomedical, software, and cleantech innovations as well as patent drafting, evaluating new technologies, and IP management strategies. Tony drafts and prosecutes patent applications relating to medical devices, medical imaging systems, ultrasound, electronic circuits, electronic devices, communication systems, radar systems, video and signal processing systems, mass spectrometry, fuel cell technology, alternative energy sources, internet systems, business methods, as well as mechanical and cleantech devices.

Tony has worked on patent matters with small, mid and large-sized corporations, universities and tech transfer organizations, as well as individual inventors across Canada. He has also worked with clients to develop in-house IP programs.

About Meghan Dillon

Meghan Dillon is a partner, lawyer and registered trademark agent at Bereskin & Parr LLP.

Meghan's practice focuses on all aspects of brand protection. Her trademark practice includes providing opinions and advice on registrability, filing and prosecuting applications, representing clients before the Trademarks Opposition Board in opposition and expungement proceedings, and assisting clients with the management of their domestic and international trademark portfolios.

Meghan has experience in negotiating and drafting various types of author agreements from working for several years at a well-known Canadian publishing house. During this time, she also obtained a Certificate in Publishing from Ryerson Polytechnic University.

About Naomi Zener

Naomi Zener is counsel with Bereskin & Parr LLP. Her practice focuses on copyright, entertainment, transactional IP and marketing and advertising law.

Naomi completed her Juris Doctor at Osgoode Hall Law School and her Master of Law at the University of Toronto. She has 15 years of experience working in legal and business affairs executive management. Naomi also has private practice experience where she provided legal advice to clients on intellectual property, advertising and marketing, employment, development and production. She acted as Canadian counsel for clients in both Canada and the United States in the TV Broadcast, Film, and Technology industries.

Prior to joining Bereskin & Parr LLP, Naomi spent the last four years as the General Counsel (Canada) for a Canadian digital media and broadcasting company. At this company, Naomi delivered strategic advisory, business development and operational counsel to the executive management team. She provided legal and strategic guidance and counsel regarding commercial joint ventures and transactions, TV/film/digital media productions (including rights and clearances, E&O, and use of third party content), studio operations, labour & employment, marketing and advertising, cannabis, privacy rights, copyright and trademark law.
