One Girl Can’s purpose is to alleviate poverty and promote gender equality for girls in sub-Saharan Africa.Without targeted interventions, the cultural and financial obstacles that prevent girls from accessing education will continue to trap them in a vicious cycle of generational poverty. Our innovative approach is based on three operating principles that perpetuate a cycle of sustainability and empowerment:WE BUILD and rehabilitate existing girls’ schools to create safe and enriching learning environments.WE EDUCATE by providing scholarships for students with the greatest need and potential at secondary school and university levels.WE MENTOR every student through workshops that teach goal setting, confidence building, strategic thinking and career planning.<br>We Build. One Girl Can Society

<P>A night to remember with drinks, appetizers, a silent auction line up from top Vancouver brands and restaurants. Bid on one of two safaris to Tanzania or South Africa, or one of two trips on a 1954 60' mahogany cruiser with up to 10 friends. The experience and prizes are over the top!</P>
<P>Last year's event raised over $100,000 and all proceeds went directly to improving the infrastructure of two girl’s schools in Uganda and awarded more than 20 scholarships.<BR>This year we are building and renovating 4 dormitories and 3 washroom facilities for a girl’s school in Kenya with 530 students, and bed spaces for 372. With only 4 toilets nearby and no showers, you have to wonder how a teenage girl can manage to excel through 4 years of high school in these conditions.
