<h3>F﻿ield Trips are all on Friday, January 13th - you can only sign up for ONE Trip</h3><p>January Jumpstart will conclude with various excursions to interact and learn directly from organizations of interest to Global Affairs &amp; Public Policy professionals.  </p><p><strong>Register* by Friday, December 16,</strong> for one of the six field trips listed below.  Additional details and instructions will be shared directly with registered participants for each trip.  </p><p><em>Registration deadline allows for trip logistics  to be finalized </em> </p><h3>[OPTION 1] Aga Khan Museum </h3><p>9﻿:00AM - 3:00PM</p><p>A respected centre of education and learning, the Aga Khan Museum promotes pluralism and intercultural dialogue providing unique insights and new perspectives into Islamic civilizations and culture.  You will also have a unique opportunity to be introduced to the Museum&#x27;s current exhibitions and some time to experience them yourselves.</p><p>Hear from the Aga Khan Museum&#x27;s leadership about: </p><ul><li>their career journeys </li><li>the importance of the Museum as a growing global organization</li><li>the museum’s influence on public policy issues like climate change, migration and refugees</li></ul><h3>[OPTION 2] Amazon</h3><p>1﻿1:00AM - 2:00PM</p><p>About: Invent. Simplify. Repeat. – with Amazon. Munk students will hear from Amazon’s top leaders at the downtown Amazon Toronto office, exploring the famous working backwards process, how to build a culture of technological innovation, the genesis of the public cloud (AWS), quantum computing, constant reinvention and more.  The sessions are as follows:</p><ul><li>Session 1: Public Policy at Amazon (Nicole Foster)</li><li>Session 2:  Amazon’s Culture of Innovation &amp; History of Production Innovation (Alex Armanious)</li><li>&gt;&gt;&gt; Lunch &lt;&lt;&lt;</li><li>Session 3: Cutting-Edge Quantum Computing Use-Cases and Social/Policy/Governance Considerations (Michael Brett)</li></ul><h3>[OPTION 3] Queen&#x27;s Park: Ontario Legislature Tour and Lunch Discussion</h3><p>9:30AM - 2:00PM</p><p>Explore the history and heritage of Ontario&#x27;s Parliament. Discover the beautiful architectural features and see where the Legislature meets. Look for ghosts (remember, it&#x27;s Friday the 13th!). Get a behind the scenes look of the Ontario Legislature. Over lunch, hear from a public servant and current member about what it&#x27;s like to work at Queen&#x27;s Park.</p><h3>[OPTION 4] R﻿BC</h3><p>1﻿1:00AM - 2:00PM</p><p>Join us for a trip to Toronto’s financial district, to one of Canada’s largest banks and 3-time winner of ‘North America’s Retail Bank of the Year’.  On your visit, you will hear from RBC leaders on what it’s like to work in their respective areas of the bank and get a birds-eye view of their strategic priorities and what keeps them awake at night.  You will also have an opportunity to meet and network with MGA and MPP Munk School graduates who currently work at RBC and can provide insights on careers in banking, how to leverage and talk about your Munk School degree, and their tips and advice on landing your internship or first job post-graduation.</p><p>Three key takeaways:  </p><ul><li>Gain insights on current global challenges in banking</li><li>Learn about areas of the bank where MGAs and MPPs can leverage their skills</li><li>Network with RBC staff </li></ul><h3>[OPTION 5] Regent Park: Building Inclusive Cities</h3><p>11:00AM - 2:00PM</p><p>Hosted by the Urban Economic Forum and MasterCard for Inclusive Growth.  The role of Public-Private Partnerships in building sustainable cities.  From this event, both MPP and MGA will gain a behind-the-scenes look into the world of public-private-partnerships and how different sectors can work together to improve local outcomes in sustainability. This event will also offer students a chance to engage with professionals across sectors who are working on city issues.  </p><p>What students will learn/skills they can develop:</p><ul><li>Criteria for successful PPP </li><li>How to negotiate &amp; build consensus </li><li>Experience a new area of the city </li><li>Connect with city professionals across public and private sectors </li></ul><p></p><h3>[OPTION 6] Waterfront Toronto</h3><p>1:00PM - 3:00PM</p><p>Waterfront Toronto is the public agency charged with revitalizing Toronto’s lakefront. We have a unique operating model, mobilizing public resources to attract private investment and catalyze job creation. Through collaboration across all three levels of government, we carefully choose waterfront revitalization projects and deliver them in partnership with real estate developers, non-profit organizations, and community groups — to ensure those projects deliver economically, socially and ecologically. During this field trip, you’ll hear from our senior policy leaders about how this approach has shaped the city’s increasingly vibrant waterfront, and take a walking tour along the lakefront to see how some of our major projects have come together.</p><p>Three key takeaways:  </p><ul><li>Intergovernmental and community engagement, </li><li>Innovation</li><li>Sustainability and climate policy</li></ul><p></p>
