日前黎智英被判刑廿年。於香港成長的導演 Mark Tarrant 是一位澳洲人權律師,他一直以藝術與影像回應黎智英被囚處境。本片以霓虹藝術裝置「鐵鏈中的黎智英」為主軸,記錄該作品於澳洲悉尼公開展出的過程,透過作品關注香港在《國安法》下的人權與法治狀況。
社區分享放映會於全球各地陸續舉行,多倫多放映會定於3月15曰星期日在 Fairview 圖書館舉行,會後導演 Mark Tarrant 與大家親述感受。放映會免費入埸,敬請留座。
Recently, Jimmy Lai was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Grew up in Hong Kong, the director Mark Tarrant, who is an Australian human rights lawyer, has consistently responded to Lai’s imprisonment through art and film. This documentary centers on the neon art installation “Jimmy Lai in Chains”, documenting its public display in Sydney, Australia, and using the work to highlight human rights and the rule of law in Hong Kong under the National Security Law.
Community sharing of the documentary is being held in different cities around the world. Screening in Toronto will be on Sunday March 15 at Fairview Library. There is a Q&A session with director Mark Tarrant after screening. Please reserve your free tickets now.

Mark Tarrant is a Lawyer based in Sydney, Australia.
Mark grew up in Hong Kong and went to Kowloon Junior School in Perth Street and King George V School in Ho Man Tin.
As a young child Mark has vivid memories of the 1967 riots in Hong Kong and the untimely death of Bruce Lee in 1973.
Mark started making short films during the Covid lockdown in Australia.
This is the screening of Mark’s film revised in 2024. The original "2023 Hong Kong Neon – Jimmy Lai in Chains" was screened at the BAFTA-qualifying British Urban Film Festival in London in October 2024.
