KAMPLAN Cafés -- Introduction

Kamloops is expected to grow to a population of 120,000 over the next 22 years. KAMPLAN: The City of Kamloops Official Community Plan (OCP), is the guiding document used to plan for future growth and manage land use within the jurisdiction of the city. The City is in a third phase of engagement as part of a process to review and update its OCP, which was last updated in 2004.

In Phase 1, residents helped craft a vision of a sustainable, healthy, inclusive, vibrant and resilient community. In Phase 2, residents helped inform the development of a growth strategy with supporting policies to guide and manage land use as we grow to a population of 120,000 residents over the next 22 years.

Now in Phase 3, City staff have used the feedback provided in Phase 2 to develop a 1st draft of the new OCP. We now want to hear from you to ensure the City is on track! What are some of the challenges and opportunities if we achieve the OCP's vision and goals? Did we miss any "big ideas" or is there something else you think the City should consider?

From June 5th to June 8th, the City will be hosting KAMPLAN Cafés -- evening roundtable discussions with community members on the 10 policy areas in the draft OCP: Land Management and Development; Environment; Transportation & Mobility; Infrastructure; Housing; Parks and Recreation; Arts, Culture and Heritage; Economic Development; Health & Safety; and Community Well-being. Residents will have the opportunity to participate in roundtable discussions on three OCP policy areas per event -- attend more than one KAMPLAN Café to discuss additional policy areas!
