Overview

A presentation with short documentary film, knitting and crocheting during the even encouraged!

Bring your needles, hooks, yarn and whatever you like to keep your hands busy with

to a presentation by

Kirk Dunn (aka The Knitting Pilgrim)

on his Patchwork Pride Progress Flag Project

What started out as a rainbow yarn bomb turned into a stunning 12’ x 21’ Pride flag that was brought to life by many hands and countless hours. It first draped the steeple of Morningside-High Park Presbyterian Church in Toronto before traveling to London, England to be hung outside Canada House.

Kirk will talk about the project, its inspiration and challenges with images before screening a short documentary by Neville Madill, Abroad: Patchwork Pride, that takes the piece to the UK.

Presentation with film runs approximate 50 mins.

Both Kirk and Neville will stay for a Q & A afterwards.

The event will be held in the Main Hall of the TRANZAC which is accessible. Bar service is available. Doors will open at 6pm and Kirk will take the microphone at 7:30. There will be tables set up for you to work. Lights will be dimmed enough for the screen to be viewed comfortably, feel free to bring a small portable light if you feel you need it.

A portion of the funds collected for the evening will be donated to The 519.

A crafty stash sale table will be set up. Please contact the organizer if you have colourful stash yarns or related crafty things to donate. 100% of the sale table will go to The 519.

Tickets are $15 with the option to add an additional donation if you feel generous or like the idea but can't make it.

** If you’d prefer not to pay via eventbrite, please reach out to the organizer to pay by etransfer **
