Landscape Painting Techniques: Mastering Composition

Landscape Painting Techniques: Mastering Composition

Kensington Art Supply & InstructionCalgary, AB
Sunday, Apr 12 from 10 am to 4 pm
Overview

Do your paintings lack something you can't quite pinpoint? Do you want to start composing with confidence? This workshop is for you!

Take your landscape painting technique to the next level by mastering composition with this unique workshop!

In this workshop, we will explore the core principles that make landscapes compelling and visually powerful:

  • Creating clear focal points and visual hierarchy
  • Designing strong value patterns for structure and unity
  • Simplifying complex scenes without losing impact
  • Guiding the viewer’s eye through intentional composition
  • Using edges, contrast, and shapes to strengthen design
  • Understanding balance, rhythm, and visual movement

We will complete several small compositional studies to practice these ideas, followed by a start of a more developed painting where you will apply the principles in a clear, structured way.

This workshop is for artists of all levels and no prior experience is required. You can use either acrylic, oil (no solvents) or watercolour paint. Pastels are not allowed in this workshop.

Dates: April 12th, 2024
