What languages is this for?

Language Happy Hour is for all languages. The most commonly spoken/practiced are English, French and Spanish, but there's also Italian, Portuguese, Arabic, Russian, Korean and much more. Let a volunteer know what language you're seeking and we'll do our best to find someone you can practice with:)

What is the dance lesson?

There will be a Latin dance lesson from 7:30-8:30 p.m. It's taught by professional dance teachers, is optional and is included in the cost of your ticket. The exact type of dance  (salsa, bachata, etc.) will be announced soon!

How does the exchange work?

When you arrive, you'll fill out a name tag with both your native language and the language(s) you'd like to practice. This will help facilitate the exchanges as you mix and mingle throughout the evening!

How did Language Happy Hour begin?

Your host/organizer, Lindsey, started this group online during the pandemic. It was created as a way to connect with new people from all over the world and practice languages. Today we're more than 3,000 members and average more than 100 people per event, which take place  once a month in Toronto.

Is Language Happy Hour always at the same venue?

Language Happy Hour takes place at various venues in Toronto. We try to change it up so people can discover new venues and new areas of the city. It will always be downtown and close to TTC.
