Remade in the Shade hosts hands-on upcycling workshops across the Greater Victoria area, where creativity meets sustainability. Each session invites you to take a fresh look at old or damaged clothing and textiles and explore how they can be turned into something new and unique.Whether you’re new to sewing or an experienced maker, our workshops offer a relaxed, supportive space to learn practical skills, spark inspiration, and enjoy the satisfaction of crafting clothing with purpose.

Learn to Upcycle

Learn the art of upcycling! Join our hands-on workshops to learn how to transform old clothes and textiles into fresh, eco-friendly creations.

We will start by learning what upcycling is, why it matters, and how old clothing or textiles can be saved from the landfill and given a second life.The workshop includes 2 easy projects:<ol><li>T-shirt into grocery or produce bag (no sew): with just a pair of scissors, we will transform an old t-shirt into a bag. </li><li>Fabric flowers: we will turn scraps of fabric into flowers that can be attached to clothing or accessories. This project requires some simple hand stitching. </li></ol>All supplies and tools will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own t-shirt or fabric scraps to personalize your project. No prior experience needed.
