Learning through Stories: A Conversation about Indigenous Evaluation

The Evaluation Capacity Network was formed with the intention of advancing evaluation practices in the field of early childhood development. In our work with children and families, most of us have probably stopped to wonder, “Am I really making a difference?” Quality evaluation practices have the potential to help us answer this question. Through a network of community engagement we can learn from the practices, diverse perspectives and approaches of others,  and increase evaluation capacity.

How do we begin to decolonize evaluation practice? Join us May18 (12pm -1pm MT) for an interactive conversation featuring wisdom from Metis evaluators Larry Bremner and Melissa Tremblay. Bring an open heart, mind and your curiosity. M﻿eet our speakers:Dr. Melissa Tremblay is a member of the Métis Nation of Alberta and was born and raised in rural Alberta. Melissa is a Registered Psychologist in the province of Alberta, and an Assistant Professor in both the School and Clinical Child Psychology Program and the Counselling Psychology Program at the University of Alberta. As the mother of three young children, Melissa is acutely aware of the need to strengthen opportunities for Indigenous children and youth to deepen understandings of their cultures and histories.Larry is a former President of the Canadian Evaluation Society (CES) Manitoba Chapter. In 2012, Larry was elected National President of CES. As Past President, he represented CES on the international stage where he was the driving force behind the creation of the global EvalPartners’ network EvalIndigenous. In 2017, Larry received the CES Service Award and in 2018 the Contribution to Evaluation in Canada Award. In 2019, he was inducted as a Fellow of the Canadian Evaluation Society (FCES), the Society’s highest honour. Larry is also co-editor of the new permanent section of the Canadian Journal of Program Evaluation, Roots and Relations: Celebrating Good Medicine in Indigenous Evaluation.Z﻿oom link will be sent 24 hours prior to the event.
