Thank you for your interest in Let's Talk Astrophysics! Unfortunately our ticket sales have ended for this event but keep an eye on the Let's Talk Science website (https://letstalkscience.ca/) for other interesting symposia that will be occurring throughout the year.

Join us to learn about dark matter, dark energy, galaxies and some of the coding and university experiences that are behind them!

About this event

Are you curious about what goes on beyond our little blue rock? Are you considering going to university? Brought to you by Let's Talk Science and the IDEAS Initiative at Queen's, Let's Talk Astrophysics is an event geared towards grade 11 and 12/Cégep students (ages 15-18) that offers a variety of content to answer your burning questions and give you an idea of what university is like. We have some exciting talks from experts in the fields of dark matter, dark energy and galaxies, a Q&A panel with current university students, and a coding workshop to walk you through some of the basics of coding and what that looks like for researchers in astrophysics.

This event will take place over two days (1-4pm EST each day), with expert talks and the Q&A panel on Saturday, February 20, followed by a guided coding workshop using real telescope data on Sunday, February 21. Full details, including the schedule for the weekend, can be found on our event website: https://www.queensu.ca/physics/lta.

*Due to the outburst of interest in this event from other people, we have decided to open up the first day of expert talks to a broader audience. While unfortunately the capacity for the workshop is much more restricted, we would love for you to join us on Saturday to hear from our experts! High school educators may join using the "Educator (Saturday only)" ticket and all other interested parties may join using the "Enthusiast (Saturday only)" ticket.
