Let's Talk Money

Let's Talk Money

SUNDAY CREATIVEToronto, ON
Friday, Mar 13 from 7 pm to 9:30 pm
Overview

A beginner-friendly intro to personal finance. Learn the basics of budgeting, saving & investing in a relaxed, no-judgment social setting.

Money affects your daily life, but most of us were never actually taught how it works.

“Let’s Talk Money” is an introductory personal finance night at Recess designed to make finances feel understandable instead of overwhelming.

The evening is structured as a mix of short, simple mini-presentations followed by fun trivia rounds.

During the night, we’ll cover core personal finance concepts such as:

• understanding your money habits and common financial challenges
• building simple budgeting and saving habits
• investing basics and available options
• risk vs return and how to make smarter financial decisions

After each section, we’ll play a short trivia game based on what was just shared. Not to test you, but to help the information stick and make learning feel approachable.

We’ll also share free tools and resources you can use afterward so the night actually translates into action, not just information.

This event is for you if:

• you’ve been avoiding looking at your finances

• you want to start budgeting but don’t know where to begin

• investing feels intimidating or confusing

• you want a clear starting point before doing deeper research

• you prefer learning in a social, low-pressure setting

No prior knowledge is expected. You won’t be put on the spot and you don’t need to prepare anything beforehand.

You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of the basics and practical next steps you can start right away!

MEET OUR INSTRUCTOR:

Meet Lianne - an entrepreneur at heart with a passion for fashion, personal finance, and personal development.

After sharing her own money journey online, she quickly realized how many people simply weren’t taught the basics of saving, budgeting, and investing.

That insight sparked her mission: to make personal finance simple, relatable, and accessible to everyone.

Her goal is to help her community feel more confident, informed, and inspired about their finances.

You can find her @liannebudgets on Instagram and TikTok!
