The evening opens with the driving rhythms and bold colours of Pjetër Gaci Ibrahimi’s Valle Epike, a work that pulses with folk-inspired energy and Albanian spirit. Canadian pianist <a href="https://bccmusic.ca/libby-yu-bio" title="https://bccmusic.ca/libby-yu-bio" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Libby Yu</a>* then takes the stage for Tchaikovsky’s monumental Piano Concerto No. 1, a romantic tour de force filled with soaring melodies, thunderous chords, and dazzling virtuosity.
