About This Event

Prevent It! is an evidence based educational workshop designed to help adults prevent child sexual abuse. This Indigenous focused session was created with contributions from Indigenous communities across Canada and explores the impacts of historical and colonial trauma on Indigenous children and families.

Participants will gain practical tools to support prevention, awareness, and safe response.

Participants Will Learn

  • Warning signs and concerning behaviours
  • Grooming and high risk situations
  • Internet safety
  • How to start age appropriate conversations about sexual abuse
  • How to respond if a child discloses abuse
  • Child protection laws and how to report concerns
  • Practical tools, checklists, and resources

All participants receive a comprehensive workbook and a certificate of attendance.

Who Should Attend

This workshop is for parents, caregivers, professionals, and volunteers who work with or support Indigenous children.

This session covers sensitive topics that may be distressing for some participants. Supports are available:

  • Hope for Wellness Help Line: 1 855 242 3310 (24 hours, Indigenous people across Canada)
  • Alberta Mental Health Help Line: 1 877 303 2642 or alberta.ca/mentalhealth

Our PLE program is funded to provide free workshops to Albertans. As such, priority will be given to Alberta residents. If you live outside of Alberta and register, please be advised that your registration may be waitlisted should capacity be reached.
