Overview

Grab some friends and join the Heart & Stroke Young Leaders for some lawn bowling fun & a crash course on life-saving CPR on the island!

Join us at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club on June 17 to Live Lawn & Prosper!

This June you are invited to join the Heart & Stroke Young Leaders on the Toronto Islands for a summer night of lawn bowling, life saving skills training, and networking with other young professionals.

After a friendly tournament, you and your team will learn how to perform CPR and use an AED (A) with the help of a Heart and Stroke affiliated instructor, who will introduce you to critical life-saving skills.

A few important facts:

  • Cardiac arrest can strike without warning. An estimated 35,000 people experience cardiac arrests outside of hospital each year in Canada - that is one every 15 minutes. If you perform CPR and use an AED on a person experiencing cardiac arrest, you have doubled their chance for survival.
  • Survival drops significantly with every minute without CPR and AED use – every second counts.
  • Anyone can use an AED, you don't have to be a medical professional. The device is smart – it will only administer an electrical shock to a heart that needs it. You cannot hurt, you can only help!
