The Ottawa Film Office focuses on the continued development, retention, competitiveness and enhancement of the city’s film, television and animation industry. The Directors Guild of Canada – Ontario (DGC Ontario), in collaboration with the Ottawa Film Office (OFO), is hosting a training course on location scouting.DGC Ontario is a provincial labour organization representing key creatives, operational specialists, and their respective departmental assistants in the following categories: Directors, Assistant Directors, Production Managers, Location Managers, Production Designers and Art Directors, Accountants, Picture Editors, Sound Editors and Post Production Supervisors.Participants in this training course, taught by DGC Member and experienced Location Manager Craig Rose, will learn how to work as an integral part of the development process for the film and television production industry as a Locations Scout. The curriculum of this course is designed to teach participants a step-by-step approach to scouting locations for film and television productions and will outline the skills necessary to scout for locations effectively.This workshop is targeted to anyone seeking to work in Ottawa’s film and television industry as a Location Scout. While previous industry experience is not required to attend the workshop, attendees should have a serious interest in pursuing a career in this field.Lunch is not provided. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch or purchase food from a nearby business.W﻿e understand things happen. If for whatever reason you can no longer attend this session after registering, please let us know in advance (via email at info@ottawa.film) so that your seat can be given to someone else.
