MacSkimming Centre NatureBlitz
Event Information
Description
Join us for a free, family friendly NatureBlitz event on Friday, May 13th and Saturday, May 14th at the MacSkimming Outdoor Education Centre just east of Orleans! The NatureBlitz will take place over a 24-hour period from 2pm Friday until 2pm Saturday and will give the whole family a guided opportunity to explore and connect with nearby nature in a superb natural area that’s normally closed to the public. All participants are asked to register for free tickets in advance.
With the help of local nature experts, the NatureBlitz will feature fun guided walks and nature interpretation throughout the day and after dark. Similar to a BioBlitz another goal of the event is to learn about and inventory as many living things as possible in the 24-hour period so we have a better understanding of this site’s biodiversity.
PLEASE NOTE: Limited spaces are available for each activity during the NatureBlitz, so advance registration is required. Simply click the "Register" link above to get free tickets for each activity you'd like to attend. We may open up additional spaces for activities that are over-subscribed.
** This is a RAIN or SHINE event. Some events will be modified in the event of rain. **
The following guided walks and activities will be provided throughout the day, including a chance to look for and identify bats using handheld bat detectors.
