Make Change Conference 2018
Event Information
Description
Make Change assembles diverse creators who are excited about using their practice to facilitate social change. We serve a network of makers, developers, entrepreneurs, artists, crafters, educators, and technologists working for a better world.
We explore the intersections of creating and social change in a full day of programming at Toronto Media Arts Centre. The conference will balance talks and discussion with hands on workshops, and invite curious people to engage with the ways their work impacts the world and each other.
Please see additional workshops you can sign up for during the conference:
Here are a few of the workshops we're excited about that you can sign up for, alongside our full day of speaker talks!
10:10 AM Make A Game In 15 Minutes
Alex Leitch 1hr
This is a one-hour workshop on how to develop collaboration with new people, during which participants work together to put on a gnomic game, where they make up the rules as they go! This year I'm looking forward to including a few pre-set target mechanics, and including new learning about how to chat about political blocs in action from my time running the game at Data and Society in New York.
11:10AM BIO-SONIFICATIONS: NON-HUMAN COLLABORATIONS
Tosca Teran 30min
A workshop exploring Tosca's current sculptural, sound work with Mycelium. Learn how-to start collaborating with nature through Bio-Sonification.
Tosca is currently growing over 100 pounds of Mycelium in her hall closet! Also of note: she is working with a local Brew Master creating a Fluorescent jellyfish beer for Cask Days.
This workshop has a $5 material fee
