Script breakdown is the first step in prepping any show. Understanding how to dissect the script to get information on the characters is crucial to knowing what the needs of the costume department will be from concept, to budget, to shopping lists, to labour numbers.Join us for a Manual Script Breakdown class which will look into the basics of how to manually break down a script. Discussion will cover basic production paperwork and understanding not only the script, but also how to create a budget and plot sheets. During this class you will learn basic manual script breakdown, which is essential as many of the apps and programs available do not always get everything right. This course will be offered on Zoom with the ability for participants to submit questions in real time for the instructor to expand on. An email with all the required access information will be sent slightly after 12pm EST (9am PST) on the day of the course. Please check your spam folder if you cannot find the email. The only way to access the course is at the allotted course start time on Zoom. Working her way up the ranks she is now a Costume Designer for shows such as Seance, VWars, The Lie, Seven in Heaven, Man Seeking Woman and as Co-Costume Designer for Reign season 2. She won a Best Costume Design award at The Southern California Film Festival for “Rosie Takes the Train”. Once known for her extensive experience as a Set Supervisor (Saw franchise, The Vow, Resident Evil 5), Leslie’s expertise in working with stunts and special effects is sought out by many big features for the second unit (xXx...The Return of Xander Cage, Suicide Squad, Total Recall, Robocop, Kick-Ass). Leslie also Assistant Costume designs (Designated Survivor, The Bold Type, How to Build a Better Boy, Reign). Leslie has worked in most capacities within the costume department and continues to expand her knowledge and experience by taking workshops, seminars and courses. Having served on the Board at Caftcad for several terms has allowed Leslie to see the amazing growth and potential that is in the costume community all across Canada. Being involved with Caftcad has allowed her to collaborate on several initiatives (Bespoke, Caftcademy101, Caftcad TIFF events). More recently she has been brainstorming for new ideas courses and workshops with her costume counterparts in Vancouver.
