Providing a space where artist's from different backgrounds can come together and create a special experience in a safe environment. Music.Art.Ppl's efforts are equally focused on curating a unique musical and visual experience. Programming each event with a diverse musical selection with elements of live art in it’s many forms. How do you become an artist? What tools do you need to make it as a creator in Ottawa? What skills can help you on your journey? Those are questions every creative has asked themselves on the journey to make art their life’s work. We here at Music.Art.Ppl are dedicated to helping young artists gain a foothold in the market and learn valuable skills to help them succeed.Music.Art.Ppl presents an Emerging Artists Workshop. Learn concrete skills on how to better yourself as an artist and creator. Hear from professionals and fellow artists about their journey and gain invaluable skills as you grow your creative platforms. This one day immersive workshop is geared to all kinds of creators and artists: musicians, artists, writers, DJs, podcasters, digital artists, actors, poets, etc. If you create and want to learn how to better your brand, your art and your skills, this workshop is for you. Join us at The Mauril-Bélanger Social Innovation Workshop (The Atelier) at St. Paul’s University on Saturday October 14th starting at 1030am for a day of workshops, networking and bettering your creative brand. Bonus, everyone in attendance will have the chance to get a professional headshot done by our photographer. Our day will consist of four distinct workshops which will help you on your creative journey. *Learn about the art of public speaking, how to build your professional brand, marketing and social media skills, artists management and representations, applying for artist grants, running your own events and festivals and succeeding in the world of art and business.*More information on workshops coming soon. A catered lunch will be provided for all ticket holders. The event will run from 1030am to 430pm with networking breaks throughout. Phil Paquette aka Paqs

Phil Paquette aka Paqs is a 29-year-old Producer / DJ who has risen to become a prominent DJ / Producer in the Dance Music Landscape. 

Between his big tracks and energetic sets, Paqs is emerging with a special vibe and a handy set of tools as an artist. His techno sound continues to evolve - performing at major music festivals and clubs alongside loads of exceptional talent. His ability to create sound journeys and connect with crowds is remarkable and it seems he draws inspiration from everywhere. He is an artist who loves what he does and is beyond grateful to do it every day and share his love with people all over. 

Phill will talk about being a touring artist. How to deal with bookers and agents. Considerations on travel and venues and detail what you need to know to make it nationally and internationally. 


Brian Tong (aka whatsgoodbtong)


Former professional dancer turned casting agent turned media production agency owner from Ottawa. The journey as a professional dancer has garnered international attention which Ottawa Tourism has appointed Brian as "Ottawa's Own" most creative people, servicing a wide array of entertainment and hospitality projects borned the casting agency that's operational till this day. Over the years, he had work with various agencies within PR, Experiential, Digital, Marketing, Media and Event Planning to help cast Escapade Music Festival, Free The Children: We Day, Ottawa Senators, NCC Winterlude 2014 Grand Opening, Casino Lac Leamy, Bluesfest, NCC Canada Day 150th Celebration, and many pivotal events across Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal.


As the casting agency continued to grow and the exploration of using an iPhone SE (2015) became a new venture in media production. Later that year the establishment of WHATSGOODBTONG and Studio 79e began growing a client list: NHL.com, Evoo Kitchen, OSEG (Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group), Ottawa Red Blacks and more. Today serving various agencies (Narcity) as the creative extended arm in both pre and post production for Mazda, Interact, Absolut, Truly Seltzer, St. Sault Marie Tourism, Harry Rosen, Ottawa Tourism, Hip Hop International, Toronto Raptors x Axe Deodorant, NFL Canada and more.

His experiences from floor operations to project managing teams has built the foundational level of expertise to grow the media agency that it is today. The performative energy that's transferred to various environments brings an uplifting and memorable experience making each project a special one. 

In the workshop we will explore the art of resilience, resourcefulness and creative dharma and transferring all these into branding and marketing as an artist. 


Howard Adler

Howard Adler is the co-founder/director/programmer for the Asinabka Festival, an annual Indigenous film and media arts festival in Ottawa. Howard has a bachelor of arts in Indigenous Studies from Trent University, and a master of arts in Canadian Studies from Carleton University. Howard’s film, video and art, have been exhibited in gallery settings, broadcast nationally, shown on airplanes, featured on CBC Gem, and shown extensively at film festivals both in Canada and internationally. His art practice is diverse and includes visual art, meme-making, stained glass, drag, beadwork, VJ’ing, video projection mapping, and experimental and documentary filmmaking. He often works as a freelancer or on a contract basis in various capacities, including film and video production, as a university instructor, a guest speaker, a workshop instructor, or leading art making classes for youth. Howard’s pronouns are he/him, he is Two-Spirit, Jewish and Anishinaabe, and a member of Lac des Mille Lacs First Nation in North-Western Ontario.

Howard will speak to working as a freelance artist and creator. What to consider when applying for grants and funding. How to work with larger events and festivals and detail his journey as a creative maker.
