<H2>Calling all health technology innovators!</H2>
<P>Trying to sell your medical device, software or diagnostic tests to hospitals and policy makers is tough. We understand. Not only do you have to prove that your technology is safe and does what it should, you also have to show how it stacks up against current practices in effectiveness and cost, AND you have to find people who are willing to give you a chance and try out your technology. Getting this right takes a lot of time and money.</P>
<H2>We can help.</H2>
<P>The<STRONG> MaRS Excellence in Clinical Innovation and Technology Evaluation (EXCITE)</STRONG> program is a collaboration between a range of stakeholders in the health system that work together to help innovative health technologies get to market faster and improve patient outcomes in Ontario and around the world.</P>
<P>At the end of the program, companies will have a robust evidence package, called the<STRONG> <A HREF="https://www.marsdd.com/systems-change/mars-excite/excite-evidentiary-bundle/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">EXCITE core evidentiary bundle</A></STRONG>, that they can use for both <STRONG>Health Canada licensing</STRONG> <EM>and</EM> <STRONG>reimbursement and purchasing reviews.</STRONG></P>
<P>Getting the data is one thing, but realistically putting the technology into practice is another. EXCITE can help mitigate barriers to adoption by facilitating conversations with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and other key stakeholders on topics concerning issues of infastructure readiness, fee code adjustments, and procurement. EXCITE does not make any gurantees regarding adoption, but by by engaging the health system early on, evaluation through the EXCITE process provides improved opportunities for mutually beneficial outcomes arising from these discussions.</P>

<H2>LES LEVIN  | Chief Scientific Officer, MaRS EXCITE</H2>
<P>Dr. Leslie Levin is the creator and founding Chief Scientific Officer of the Excellence in Clinical Innovation and Technology Evaluation (EXCITE) housed at MaRS. A world first, EXCITE focuses on pre-market evidence-based assessment of new, breakthrough health technologies as a collaboration among industry, academia, government and the broader health system. EXCITE is just the latest example of his leadership in driving evidence-based procedures, partnerships and policies.</P>
<P>Dr. Levin was previously Vice President of Health Quality Ontario’s (HQO’s) Evidence Development and Standards division, which provides evidentiary platforms for health-related policy and funding decision-making. Les worked closely with the leadership of the health system, academia, and industry and with government. He was instrumental in creating the Ontario Health Technology Advisory Committee (OHTAC), which advises HQO and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care on the adoption of all non-drug health technologies, including health system changes.</P>
<P>Prior to HQO, Dr. Levin served on the senior management team at the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care as Senior Medical Advisor where he created the Medical Advisory Secretariat which developed evidence to inform policy decision making. Prior to this, he was Vice President of Cancer Care Ontario and was instrumental in creating unique evidence-based provincial programs relating to treatment guidelines and an evidence linked drug funding program. He is a member of the HTA Council of the International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Clinical Outcomes (ISPOR), a past member of the Medical Advisory Panel of Blue Cross Blue Shield and Director on the Board of the International Network of Agencies for Health Technology Assessment.</P>
<P>Dr. Levin is a Professor in the Department of Medicine, University of Toronto, and is a senior consultant in medical oncology at the Princess Margaret Hospital. He was the recipient of the 2012 Excellence through Evidence award by the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation, the recipient of the 2014 Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH) Anniversary Medal and the International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) Distinguished Service Award 2014.</P>
<H2>ZAYNA KHAYAT  | Lead, MaRS Health, and Director, MaRS EXCITE</H2>
<P>Zayna Khayat is the Lead of MaRS Health and and Director of the MaRS EXCITE program. She plays a critical role in helping MaRS clients to get their innovations adopted by healthcare systems in Ontario and around the world. Zayna was previously director of development at the Ivey International Centre for Health Innovation, where she is also currently an adjunct faculty member. Prior to her time at Ivey, Zayna had an 11-year career in strategy consulting in the global health and life sciences sector, first with the Boston Consulting Group’s Toronto office from 2001 to 2010, and then as an associate principal with SECOR Consulting (acquired by KPMG in 2012)</P>
