It reviews new options in light color palette, lighting control, and luminaire tailoring and examines emerging concepts regarding Correlated Color Temperature, the nonvisual impacts of CCT and spectrum and the impact of tuning white light on human comfort. Attendees will gain an understanding of these options and be able to apply them to new lighting designs.Room: Port McNeill RoomCredits: AIA HSW - 1 LU, HSW; NCQLP - 1 LEU (self-reporting); IDCEC - 1 CEU, HSW (pre-registration required)Drazen Jerkovic | Brentwood Town Centre Case Study | 2:00-3:00 PMThis seminar examines Brentwood Town Centre's use of lighting controls throughout exterior and parkade applications. Participants will understand current technologies available to execute a variety of colour and light applications, as well as the iLumin Plus architectural lighting controls system. This local case study is a great example showing how designers, architects, engineers and contractors can achieve a fully connected structural and lighting project using lighting control solutions.Room: Port Alberni RoomCredits: No creditsVictor Quezada | Lighting & Human Biology: An Exploration of the Effect of Light on Our Well-Being & Implications for the Built Environment | 3:30-4:30 PMThis seminar unpacks the concept of “physiological architecture,” and its implications for industry professionals. What could we gain from considering how illumination levels, wavelengths, and perceived colour impact our health, mood, productivity, and cognitive acuity? Attendees will understand the science of Chronobiology and Biological rhythms and how the illumination of a space can impact users and occupants through the relationship between chronobiology and the science of lighting. Be part of the conversation and discuss how we can further evolve the built environment.Room: Port McNeill RoomCredits: No creditsDerek Bussey | The Value of Colour Tuning | 5:00-6:00 PMColor tuning is a relatively new feature enabled by the versatility of LEDs. This seminar will explain how color tuning works, identify the different types of LED color tuning solutions now available and compare and contrast their performance. The objective measurement of color tuning and its benefits as it relates to energy savings, broadcasting quality, and experience will also be discussed.Room: Port Alberni RoomCredits: No creditsAnn Schiffers | Light & Wellness | 5:00-6:00 PMThis seminar speaks on the design ramifications of circadian lighting in the built environment. Topics covered include controllable lighting parameters that have a circadian impact, lighting deign techniques to create a circadian-focused solution and the use of the Circadian Stimulus Calculator to determine successful design for circadian entertainment.
