What will the course cover?

The course is based on the questions from the MPT practice test available online from the EQAO. Content will be aimed at covering the topics raised in these questions. It will NOT just be showing solutions to these question  but will focus more broadly on understanding how to solve question types.

How long is the course?

Instruction and guided practice will take place between 9:30am and 4:30pm, Monday - Wednesday with a break for lunch. Participants are expected to do some pre-work prior to the start of the course and additional practice questions will be provided throughout.

Who is this course open to?

Accepted Answer

Anyone who will be writing, or has written and not passed, the MPT can take this course. This includes teacher candidates from Ontario, teachers from other provinces, and internationally trained educators.

What language will the course be in?

All materials and instruction will be provided in English only.

How many people will be in the course?

In order to allow everyone in the course a chance to participate and ask questions the class will be capped at a maximum of 25 students.

Are there any bursaries available?

The course is full, is there a waitlist?

YES! There is a waitlist and if enough people are on the waitlist we will run an additional course in late August/early September. To be placed on the waitlist contact pbrittai@fieldsinstitute.ca.

Who is teaching the course?

Dr. Pamela Brittain is our K - 12 math expert and has a PhD in Mathematics Education, with a focus on elementary teacher candidates and building their math knowledge and skills. She also hold a Masters in Mathematics for Teachers, and is a certified teacher in Ontario (OCT 478255).
