Overview

Bring the kids! There are more than 1000 eggs to be found and Goody Bags, too!

On Sunday, April 5, beginning at 9:30am, St. George’s United Church is hosting a children’s Easter Egg hunt with nearly 1000 hidden eggs and prize bags for all. Parents can enjoy coffee/tea and hot-cross buns in the fellowship hall while kids search for eggs.

This event is now in its fourth year and has quickly become a community favourite. Not only that, but coffee and hot cross buns are available for all grownups, too. Following the Easter Egg Hunt, participants are invited to join in the Easter Sunday Worship Service at 10:30am.

“People are often curious, sometimes skeptical about church,” says the Rev. Ryan Slifka, Minister of St. George’s. “But we want everyone to know how welcome they are, and they matter at St. George’s, especially those who have been burned by church in the past or those who don’t feel like they belong at other churches. The Easter Egg Hunt and Easter services are the perfect way to dip a toe in, and find out what we’re about.”

In addition to the Easter Egg Hunt and Sunday Service, there will be a candlelight Easter Vigil service, on Saturday, April 4, which will include the celebration of baptisms and confirmations, starting at 6:30pm.

Located in the heart of downtown Courtenay at 505 6th Street, St. George’s United Church, founded in 1913, is a spiritually vibrant, inclusive, justice-seeking community of faith that has been changing lives in the Comox Valley for over a century. The church is committed to the Comox Valley and has donated more than $60,000 to area non-profits through its community outreach events and fundraisers 2023. St. George’s has become especially notable for the health of its children’s ministry and the vibrancy of its Children’s Church program, boasting over 40 regularly attending children.

St. George’s weekly Sunday service is at 10:30 am, followed by a social time and refreshments in the fellowship hall. www.stgeorgesunited.com.
