Native Bee Fest
Come hang out at Native Bee Fest, where we celebrate wild bees with fun, food, and cool nature vibes!
Native Bee Fest
Join the Alberta Native Bee Council for our crowd-favorite hands-on workshop! Learn from the experts, build your own bee habitat, and become a citizen scientist to help protect Alberta’s vital pollinators.
Event Overview
Bumble bees are among the most recognizable native bees in Alberta, and our project aims to raise awareness while contributing data to understand their populations. In this 2.5-hour session, you will:
- Learn: Attend a 45-minute presentation on bumble bee ecology and the importance of monitoring.
- Build: Construct a high-quality nesting box to take home and place on your property.
- Contribute: Learn how to report annual occupancy data to our Bee Box Monitoring Program, aiding provincial research.
Registration & Membership Discount
- General Admission: $ 60
- ANBC Members: Save $10 OFF your registration!

Critical Information: Bring Your Own Drill
To ensure everyone can complete their box on time, participants are required to bring their own power drills. We will have a very limited supply on-site, so bringing your own tool is the best way to ensure a smooth building experience.
Location & Weather
We are hosting this event at Mount Royal University. We would love to build our boxes outdoors if the weather permits!
- The exact meeting location on campus will be announced via email to all ticket holders closer to the event date.
- Please dress for the weather and keep an eye on your inbox!
