Collect native plant seeds. Restore native habitats.

Crawford Bay Wetlands Trail

About the event:Non-native plant species have established in many areas around Kootenay Lake, out-competing native plants and threatening ecosystems. We can act by helping to re-establish native vegetation in these degraded ecosystems using native seeds. As part of our 2022 Harrop Wetland Enhancement Project, we are partnering with the Kootenay Native Plant Society to deliver a free training workshop on native plant identification and seed collection. Workshop attendees will learn to identify plants and collect their seeds, which we will later spread in the Harrop Wetland following the removal of non-native Reed Canary Grass.Successfully revegetating the Harrop Wetland with native plants is crucial to the long-term success of the wetland enhancement. Join us and be a part of this important work!Instructors: FoKLSS staff and Kootenay Native Plant Society’s Tannah ErnstGetting there:
