About the event:Non-native plant species have established in many areas around Kootenay Lake, out-competing native plants and threatening ecosystems. We can act by helping to re-establish native vegetation in these degraded ecosystems using native seeds.As part of our 2022 Harrop Wetland Enhancement Project, we are partnering with the Kootenay Native Plant Society to deliver a free training workshop on native plant identification and seed collection. Workshop attendees will learn to identify plants and collect their seeds, which we will later spread in the Harrop Wetland following the removal of non-native Reed Canary Grass.Successfully revegetating the Harrop Wetland with native plants is crucial to the long-term success of the wetland enhancement. Ferry times:
Coming from across the lake? Catch the 11:30 AM ferry from Balfour to make the start of the workshop, or the 1:10 PM if you want to attend for a shorter time. Carpooling is available for those needing transportation to the site from anywhere between Castlegar and Balfour.

Site directions from the Kootenay Bay ferry landing (see map below):
Follow Google Map directions to Crawford Creek Regional Park Beach, turn right off the highway, then take the first right in the roundabout and follow the road until it ends. OR, follow these steps:
-	Take Hwy 3A up from the ferry landing
-	Stay right at the fork, following signs for Crawford Bay
-	After about 6 minutes, turn right off the highway onto the road directly across from the Golf Course; signs for Crawford Creek Regional Park Beach)
-	Take the first right in the roundabout and follow the road until it ends
