Nature-Based Climate Solutions Summit

The Summit is being organized by a Steering Committee of some of Canada’s leading nature and conservation organizations that includes:Birds Canada; Canadian Freshwater Alliance; Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society;Canadian Wildlife Federation;Climate Action Network;David Suzuki Foundation;Environmental Defence;International Union for Conservationof Nature;Nature Conservancy of Canada;Nature Canada;Nature United;Wildlife Conservation Society; andWWF Canada.

Registration is now CLOSED for the Nature-Based Climate Solutions Summit, taking place at the National Arts Center in Ottawa on February 5th and 6th, 2020.

The summit will bring together representatives from a diverse group of organizations and institutions to help move the discussion on nature-based solutions to climate change from big ideas to concrete action in Canada. 
The new federal government has made a commitment to plant billions of trees, create a natural climate solutions fund, and protect 30% of Canada’s lands and oceans by 2030. We need to seize this opportunity to achieve shared objectives and ensure that these policies are implemented in a manner that has both climate and biodiversity outcomes. 
We want the summit to increase our collective knowledge of nature-based climate solutions and help chart a path forward. There is a growing constituency of non-governmental organizations, institutions, businesses, Indigenous nations, municipalities and provinces and territories that support federal action and investment. During the summit, we will explore opportunities to work together to advance natural climate solutions that have climate, biodiversity and other co-benefits for people and nature.
Content of the summit will include plenary sessions and interactive workshops, panels, and roundtables on the topics of: nature-based climate change mitigation, ecosystem restoration & adaptation, natural infrastructure, protected areas, and Indigenous-led approaches to all of the above categories.
The summit will run on February 5th from 8:00 am to 5:15 pm with a reception from 5:15 - 7:00 pm, and on February 6th from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
