NeuroaffirmED (Workshop)

Online event
Monday, Mar 16 from 7 pm to 8 pm ADT
Overview

Neurodiversity, eating disorders, and recovery!

The National Eating Disorders Information Center (NEDIC) has launched NeuroaffirmED, a resource collection created by and for the Neurodivergent community with a focus on the Autistic and ADHD experiences of eating disorders or disordered eating. This tool helps to fill critical gaps in the care of Neurodivergent folks by offering tips and tools to assist with coping with a diagnosis, self-advocacy, and self-care.

Join us on Monday, March 16th at 7 pm AST to hear from Emily Tam, NEDIC's Resource Development Coordinator and long-time EDNS mentor, Catherine Cicuttini, who assisted as part of the content writing team for this much-needed resource.

Catherine will draw upon her own recovery journey as someone who identifies as Neurodivergent (AuDHD). Catherine is a late-diagnosed Autistic/ADHD woman who is passionate about fostering authentic connection within her many and varied communities. As a trained Peer Mentor with Eating Disorders Nova Scotia, she has a keen interest in healing and is currently working on a genre-bending memoir about her eating disorder recovery.

She has facilitated workshops on the topics of Autism and friendship, created the first-ever Autistic Women's+ Retreat, and moderated the Autism Edmonton Autistic Women's+ Discussion Group. She is donating the profits of her self-published chapbook, An Excruciating Undoing: Autism and the Art of Friendship, back to Autism Edmonton. You can find some of her poetry in HNDL Mag or Poetry Pause, and connect with her on Instagram @the.everyday.with.catherine

Emily Tam, MPH, RD (she/her) is a graduate of the University of Toronto's Master of Public Health program and has been practicing as a dietitian since 2015. Since joining the NEDIC as a volunteer in 2008, she has fulfilled a variety of roles within the organization and currently serves as a resource development coordinator, overseeing the creation of informational materials for diverse audiences.

Our workshops are free and open to anyone aged 16+ who is located in Canada.
