Ninjutsu: Regular Practice

Nikkei Centre is a multi-use facility at the corner of Kingsway and Sperling in Burnaby, BC. Officially opened on September 22, 2000, the Centre houses a Japanese Canadian cultural centre, the Nikkei National Museum, a community centre serving the neighbourhood, and a Japanese Canadian garden.

Build upon your fundamentals to learn and master Ninja techniques. Recommended for those who have taken the Introductory Workshop.

Ninjutsu class

Ninjutsu is the traditional survival art once used by shinobi—specialists in intelligence gathering and combat in old Japan.

Ninjutsu is explored through five key themes. Each session focuses on one area: ・Sensing — developing awareness and perception ・Hiding — learning concealment and movement without being noticed ・Gathering — observing and understanding information ・Fighting — applying basic self-protection principles ・Mental Control — managing fear, tension, brave, and focus Structure of the class: -Warm-up Loosen the body through ninja movements and shuriken exercises — waking up both body and mind before training begins. -Ninjutsu training Practical training focused on one of the five core categories — Sensing, Hiding, Gathering, Fighting, or Mental Control. -Application Practice (Games / Light Sparring) Put what you've learned into action through interactive games or sparring with fellow participants or the instructor. A chance to discover how Ninjutsu works in real situations. Limited tickets will be available for drop-in on the day of the class.

For First-Time Participants Ninjutsu is not limited to athletes or specialists. It is based on skills that everyone already has—such as movement, awareness, and breathing. Training begins by noticing your current state and making small adjustments. Regardless of age or physical ability, you can start from where you are. If you're curious, begin with the beginner class and take your first step into Ninjutsu.

About SABOSABO is a Japanese Ninjutsu practitioner and performer with over 13 years of experience in traditional martial arts and stage combat. He has appeared in NHK’s historical drama series and live samurai stage productions in Japan. Based in Vancouver since 2025, he now shares the spirit and movement of ninja and samurai through performances and workshops that connect these ancient disciplines to modern life.About GinpeiGinpei is a Ninjutsu meditation practitioner, Shorinji Kempo martial artist, and sword combat performer with over 20 years of experience as a computer engineer.Born in Japan and inspired by samurai films, he moved to Vancouver nearly a decade ago.He has also appeared in a background role in the Disney+ series SHOGUN.
